Lou's Transport, Inc. is looking for a qualified Lead Diesel Mechanic to performs maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, gravel trains and semi-trailers. The applicant must have experience supervising a group of at least 7 employees. This position is 1st shift Monday through Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm Saturday when needed with possible overtime.
*Direct and supervise the activities of the Truck Shop Mechanics. Responsible for the training and development of all mechanics.
*Coordinate and monitor new and in-progress shop work
*Open, close work orders and order parts
*Review work orders for accuracy and completeness, and the appropriateness of parts and labor
*Maintain a clean and organized shop
*Repair truck and trailers and related equipment
*Diagnose and repair problems related to hydraulic components, steering systems, and braking systems of equipment
*Weld necessary parts for repair of equipment
*Conduct routine maintenance and service on equipment
Skills & Qualifications:
*Strong mechanical knowledge and previous experience to a diesel shop environment or transportation industry
*Excellent leadership skills
*Ability to manage and delegate work
*Must be organized and able to prioritize and multi-task
*5+ years’ experience with maintaining commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
*Two-year college or technical school OR related experience
*Supervisory experience preferred
*Experience in purchase orders, etc.
*Must own your own tools.
*Knowledge of mechanical function of equipment
*Valid Class A license and current medical card prefer
*Physically able to push, pull, lift, stand and kneel
*Must be dependable and able to work under pressure
